Sharon Laboratories, Ltd. (Ashdod, Israel), a leading global innovator and manufacturer of preservative solutions for cosmetics and personal care markets, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire specialty ingredients producer Res Pharma Industriale based in Trezzo sull’Adda, Italy (RPI). The acquisition of RPI, whose technology, R&D, manufacturing, commercial development and customer service capabilities will be integrated into the Personal Care business of Sharon Laboratories, is expected to close in March of 2022. Established in 2004, RPI is a chemical company specialized in research, innovation and the production of personal care ingredients. RPI has a global customer base for green functional ingredients, such as texturizers, emulsifiers, surfactants and solubilizers – as well as smart solutions for specific segments, such as wet wipes. These ingredients are used in virtually every segment of the personal care industry, including cosmetics, haircare, skincare, sun care, and more. According to Naama Eylon, General Manager of Sharon Laboratories, a broader, more diverse portfolio of cosmetic ingredients beyond preservation will further strengthen Sharon’s global reach and position, as a leading specialty solution provider to the cosmetics industry. “Sharon and RES Pharma are a perfect match, strategically and culturally. We are excited to integrate technologies and further develop the company’s product segments,” she said. “The unique technical expertise each company brings will position us as a key partner for personal care and specifically for the wet-wipes industry. The combination of Sharon preservation and RES Pharma texturizing and concept formulation expertise will allow us to provide our customers with advanced support for developing sustainable, smart formulations,” she added. In 2021,Sharon Laboratories developed SharoWIPES, a technological breakthrough addressing industry needs for more “clean label, non-irritating, eco-friendly” consumer wet wipes. With their unique anti-biofilm mechanism, SharoWIPES™ offer dual protection from microbial contamination of both the wet wipe formula, as well as the nonwoven fabric. SharoWIPES preservation systems deliver broad-spectrum protection at low levels contributing to wet wipe brand equity with free from, microbiome friendly, vegan and biodegradable claims. These wipes were chosen as a finalist for the IDEA 2022 Achievement Awards.
